Jobs Now. Built for the Future.

Building U is a workforce development initiative dedicated to connecting job seekers across Kansas and Missouri with energy efficiency training and career opportunities. Powered by Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, we’re not just building skills—we’re building resilient communities and a sustainable future.

Our mission is to prepare individuals for in-demand careers in energy efficiency, helping to create healthier, more durable and more efficient buildings. As a workforce connector, we bridge the gap between emerging talent and industry leaders, leveraging strong partnerships with businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to open pathways to fair-wage jobs and economic growth.

Through partnerships with 30 regional, state, and local organizations, we offer free comprehensive training programs that open doors to high-demand energy vocational careers, such as home energy rating, commercial HVAC testing, energy modeling and building inspections. Join us to gain valuable skills, secure well-paying jobs and make a meaningful impact.
