SUMMARY:AEE May Meeting - Q&A with Ashok Gupta
DESCRIPTION:This meeting will be structured quite informally from our normal presentations.  Ashok Gupta has been with NRDC since 1991 and is extremely knowledgeable in various areas of the Energy sector. \nThis will be a Q&A style presentation\, and we need the audience to come armed with various questions to ask Mr. Gupta.  The questions can range from Economy and Policy to Technology and Opinion \nHere are some examples of topics: \n\nEnergy Policy at State\, Local and/or National levels\nClean Energy Advancements in Kansas and/or Missouri\nEV Vehicles or Self-driving Vehicles\nClimate Change\nEnergy Efficiency\nNuclear vs. Natural Gas vs. Renewables\n\nPresenter Bio: \nAshok Gupta is Senior Energy Economist at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)\, a non-profit organization of scientists\, lawyers and environmental specialists dedicated to protecting public health and the environment with more than two million members and on-line activists\, where he works with his colleagues on global warming policies\, electric utility regulation\, energy efficiency\, renewables\, sustainable building design and transportation.  He was previously Director of Programs at NRDC as well as the Director of the Air/Energy Program.  He has been with NRDC since 1991.  He lives in the Kansas City area. \nMr. Gupta served as NRDC’s representative on Mayor Bloomberg’s Sustainability Advisory Board and Energy Policy Task Force. He received the US Green Building Council’s 2007 Leadership Award for Advocacy\, the Environmental Steward Award from Solar One in 2006\, the Environmental Professional of the Year Award from the Association of Energy Engineers in 2003\, and the Environmental Advocates’ 2001 Advocate Award for leadership in support of clean air and energy. Mr. Gupta also serves on the Boards of Directors of NYC Energy Efficiency Corporation\, Building Energy Exchange\, PACE Nation\, Smart Growth America\, and Bridging the Gap. \nMr. Gupta has a bachelor’s degree in physics and math from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in economics from American University.
