MEC facilitates workforce and business development training in a wide array of alternative fuel, energy efficiency and environmental fields. Our training service helps develop the workforce and business expertise in the region surrounding Kansas City to significantly improve energy efficiencies and increase knowledge of and adoptions of alternative fuel in fleets.
Over the past several years, MEC’s portfolio of training programs has expanded to include workforce training other energy efficiency and environmental fields, including:
- CNG/LNG Automotive Technicians
- Alternative fuel vehicle safety
- Environmental Remediation and Inspection
- Hazardous Materials Handling
- Deconstruction and Building Materials Re-Use
- Commercial Energy Auditing
- Home energy audits ; energy contractor
Since 2007, MEC has administered 302 certification exams and has trained hundreds of individuals in the Kansas City area for careers as residential energy auditors and weatherization technicians. Ninety individuals received their initial residential energy auditor certification through MEC.
These programs have been funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences.
