To create resource efficiency, environmental health, and economic vitality in the Kansas City region – and beyond.
Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) is a Kansas City nonprofit with a nearly 40-year history of transforming energy use in the building and transportation sectors — the two largest sources of greenhouse gases in the U.S. — while raising awareness to improve the air quality for our entire region. We use our experience, knowledge, and resources to empower businesses, communities, and municipalities across Kansas and Missouri to adopt and advocate for cleaner, more efficient practices.
At MEC we value our adaptability, collaboration, and respect. Our inclusive culture thrives on transparency, active listening, and accountability. Always learning, we respond to the needs of the community and of each other with grace and solution-oriented resources. By leveraging diverse strengths and perspectives, we drive sustainable energy solutions for the people.
It is the policy of Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) to not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status in administration of its programs or activities, and, MEC does not intimidate or retaliate against any individual or group because they have exercised rights protected by 40 C.F.R Parts 5 and 7 or for the purpose of interfering with such rights.
MEC is responsible for coordination of compliance efforts and receipt of inquiries concerning non-discrimination requirements implanted by 40 C.F.R. Parts 5 and 7 (Non-discrimination in Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Assistance from the Environmental Protection Agency), including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1973, and Section 13 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 (hereinafter referred to collectively as the federal non-discrimination statutes).
We are also dedicated to fulfilling requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act and other non-discrimination measures required by our funding partners, because those policy effects are ingrained in our culture.
If you require accessibility or disability-related accommodations, language assistance, language translation or interpretive services to participate in our events, please contact our Nondiscrimination Director of People and Operations at royce.martin@metroenergy.org.
