Clean Air. Safer Rides. Healthier Communities.
Clean Air. Safer Rides. Healthier Communities.
Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC), in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI), is helping school districts in Missouri and Kansas explore the transition from diesel to electric school buses. Our Electric School Bus initiative equips school administrators, transportation directors, and fleet managers with the knowledge and tools they need to plan for electrification.
zero tailpipe emissions for cleaner, safer rides
reduced diesel pollution in neighborhoods
lower fuel and maintenance expenses for districts
MEC staff—trained nationally in Washington, D.C.—bring their expertise directly to districts. Participating schools receive:
Free Training: Guidance on electric bus procurement, charging infrastructure, and planning
Technical Support: Step-by-step assistance navigating electrification options
Ongoing Resources: Funding guidance, planning tools, and best practices
The program is completely free, requiring only your time and participation in training sessions.
School district transportation directors and fleet managers

MEC supports districts of all sizes, including rural and underserved communities, to explore electrification and make informed decisions.
