October is Energy Awareness Month, and Metropolitan Energy Center is inviting YOU to join us in Bringing Purpose to Power!

This month is all about celebrating how energy efficiency improves our daily lives, connecting with our community, and having a little fun along the way. We’ve got a month full of fun, community and energy impact! From creative contests to engaging events, there’s something for everyone.

Power Up Your Pumpkin Contest

  • Decorate a pumpkin with the theme “Bringing Purpose to Power.”
  • Email your photo to layne.stracener@metroenergy.org by Oct. 24.
  • All entries will be shared on MEC’s social media for public voting the last week of October.
  • Winners announced on Halloween, Oct 31 — exciting prizes for staff and community participants!

Bringing Purpose to Power: Community, Energy & Art

Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) invites you to an evening of community, creativity and connection. Bringing Purpose to Power: Community, Energy and Art celebrates 40 years of MEC’s work by bringing neighbors, partners and supporters together for a night of learning and celebration.

What to Expect 

  • Community Voices – Hear from local leaders and artists working at the intersection of energy efficiency, sustainability and equity.
  • Art and Music – Enjoy art and performances that highlight the theme Power in Community.
  • Practical Resources – Take home energy efficiency tips, tools and free efficiency kits to help save money and strengthen your home.
  • Food and Connection – Enjoy locally catered food, live music and the chance to meet neighbors, community advocates and like-minded people interested in sustainability and environmental equity.

Connecting sustainability with community creativity, attendees will walk away with new knowledge, new connections and inspiration to take action in their neighborhoods.
